15 April 2012 was marked as 100th anniversay of the tragedic sinking of the Titanic in the North Atlantic. Titanic carried 2,223 people and eventually caused the deaths of 1,514 people.
Titanic was built between 1909-1911 and made her first (and the last) maiden voyage on 10 April 1912 with the route of Southampton to New York City.
Few days before arriving in New York, she hit an Iceberg (14 April 1912 – 11.40pm) and just before 02.20am, Titanic broke up and sank with over a thousan people still on board. Those in the water died within minutes from hypothermia caused by immersion in the freezing ocean. Left with 710 survivors in alll.
From the tragedy that happened in 1912, its only dicovered again in 1985 (73 years apart!) after many expeditions and finally thousands of artifacts can be recovered from the sea and put n display at museums around the world. And in 2005, with the advanced technology, reserachers even managed to solved the msytery on how the tragedy really happened.
Last week, we went to the exhibition which is held in the Marina Bay Sands Artscience Museum, and for those who keen to experince the feeling and seeing the well-preserved artifacts directly, better make your way there soon, as the exhibitions will last only till 29 April 2012.
Before your journey begin, they wil give you a “boarding pass” with a real passanger name on it (which at the end of your journey, you will find out whether that person is survived or lost…) P.S. both of ours name on the boarding pass classified as lost (or dead of course….)
Let’s the journey begin here…

Iceberg for all of us to touch and have a 'lil bit experience on how cold it is during that time!!!! Can't compare of course... but it's still freaking cold!!! Goshh....
The original design of Titanic is called to carry 32 lifeboats. The number later reduced to 20, both to cut costs and it was felt that the deck would become too cluttered with 32 lifeboats. The 20 lifeboats have a maximum capacity of 1,178 people. One of the great tragedies of the ship’s disaster is that only 2 of the lifeboats were filled to the capacity - all others carry fewer capacity (e.g. lifeboat no. 7 carry only 19 people out of the possible 65 people on board). This is partly due to the reluctance of passengers to leave “practically unsinkable” Titanic shortly after the ship struck the iceberg. The first seven lifeboats to launch carried a mere 160 people out of a possible 430 people. More than 70 years later then the ship is discovered beneath the surface of North Atlantic. The dive to Titanic lasts between 12 to 15 hours. To conserve battery power, the submersibles descend with their engines off and minimum lighting within the sphere. The sea quickly becomes black. Once the submersibles reach the ocean floor, the crew turn on the lights and engines to begin their exploration. At the end of the dive, the submersibles release their ballasts and begin the long ascent to the surface.
